I share an opinion with alot of the other reviews. The facilities at Ace are very good.
My main concern is with upper management and the higher up staff. They seem to lack the ability to organise anything. Often allowing staff to work all day with no breaks. There is no respect for teachers or their assistants.
A majority of teachers and assistants are good, The heaven staff are very accommodating to ADHD, OCD ect...
I can't speak for the other building.
There are oom-pah Loompas smoking ciggies in the toilets almost constantly.
Some people are half naked and stinky.
Teachers are mentally deranged
(most of which were rejected jobs from other schools probably)
Head Teacher "Hannah Smart" takes bribes from parents even as little as £20 just to keep their children from punishment.
there's this bully in this school, I'm not gonna say her name, but she has a blonde ponytail, glasses and a purple coat. she threw ice at me and another student one time. despite this, she still get's to help in bake sales like the Macmillan coffee morning.
Absolute shocking school! Vile pupils who bully my child and because my child sticks up for himself he has now been deemed the violent one. Mrs Chatterton and Mrs Smart (not so very Smart) couldn’t be more vile if they tried. They threatened to give other schools horrible reports of my child if I didn’t keep him in on a different schedule to everyone else, under their “here to help him” bs. This school is filled with teachers who just want a pay check and violent bullies who have taken advantage of my vulnerable child. One pupil resorted to cyber bullying and I was told the school couldn’t do anything about that but when my child resorted to telling the bully to ‘f off’ the school immediately go involved. This school has no understanding of ASD or ADHD. They condemn those with actual issues and coddle those who are naught little kids…disgusting!!! Now I’m stuck between a rock and hard place because they won’t let me take him out. BAD SCHOOL BAD TEACHERS BAD BULLY PUPILS!
I can't believe that my time at ace tiverton has come to an end. This school has been my home away from home for so many years, and I am going to miss it so much. I will always be grateful for the teachers, staff, and students who made this school such a special place. They were there for me during some of the hardest times in my life, and they helped me grow into the person I am today. I will never forget the memories I made here, and I will always hold this school close to my heart. Thank you ace tiverton for everything.
I presented evidence of a mentally unstable and violent member of staff too the school and yet the member of staff in question is still on their payroll it does make you wonder what other atrocities there hiding and covering up!
Ace have had so many bad reviews that.they have made the child watch a video in school about the effects on parents writing reviews, they are now manipulating our children and offering "treats" to children who leave good reviews, this school is seriously messed up .
ace tiverton is a very good school, the staff are understanding and are very welcoming to new students, they also are there to listen to you anytime. love it
they are (almost) fine about reviews on schoolparrot (food sucks).
but when you post something negative on facebook, they go crazy and make a 2 minute video saying "don't do that".
here's a video of me talking about how bad this school is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvFZjo5PgG0
For a school that specialises in autism they have little to no clue how to care for an individual child's needs. The staff are forever changing and they fail to notify parents of these changes. Your child receives bad behaviour points and you recieve letters asking you to speak to your child about that behaviour, but if my child wasn't going to have meltdowns and get stressed then he'd be at a main stream school, they really don't understand ASD at all. I've never known such a specialist school have such mainstream values. I regret the day I agreed to send my child there.
seriously, it looks like prison food but 10x worse, just look at the creamy garlic chicken for example, the cheese is cheap, bidfood is a dumb company, and you can leave one of their yogurts out for a week and it wouldn't get moldy.
I went to this school I was to scared to go they shut me in a room to make me talk .kids there have bad behaviour and are dangerous I was always scared I would get hit by a chair . I am now at a school that I love the teachers they understand me I can learn without fear I love going and i have caught up I learnt nothing at Ace I was to scared to learn one kid was running round with a knife it's a scary place and the teachers don't care .
Awful school , no knowledge of Autism , staff and Headteacher have little care and compassion for the children . Do not understand sensory needs or typically asc children .such a shame as the building and facilities are lovely but it's the quality of staff and teaching that make a school not how it looks on media sites .
As a student at ace tiverton they cannot help there self and not give a child there work without the help As they could give me because all they would do to my friend is lock her in a room by herself and expect her to ask for work then her mum spoke to hannah smart and it changed not she has been put in a class with people she doesn't get along with knowing her past and expecting her to be okay with it after her past experience with schools and I feel like they are only there for the money cus they are
I still come to this school and I have been stabbed with pens shoved around and told it's my fault because the other kids are highly autistic many are not and are kids excluded from a mainstream school and are aloud to do what ever they want the teachers don't care and are only there for a pay check and couldn't care less about education and the headteacher will say and do anything for a £20 note in all this school socks don't send your kid here unless you hate them
I agree with other review the quality of teaching is extremely poor , my son was told by other pupils how to end his own life in detail every day when I tried to remove my son and look for a school who could meet his needs I got threatened with welfare officers and social services . We felt like we had little choice but to keep sending him this has resulted in a complete metal breakdown of our sons health and staff and the headteacher didn't help , poor teaching lack of understanding for children on the spectrum no sensory training , they cannot control some of the other children , high turn over of staff I cannot remove my son they won't let me his mental health is getting worse by the day .
Unfortunately this school is not for us , my daughter came from primary who supported her in all aspects of education and health,we were told Ace caters for austism and vulnerable students my daughter is a elective mute , all professional guidelines say you must not for e a child with sm to speak this comes with trust , she was shut in aroom with another child she didn't know and told she must talk , staff also shouted at her in the street outside school hours for not speaking . The school is more for students with behaviour conditions not vulnerable children on the spectrum, they didn't assist my daughter with learning , she has always had anxiety and social anxiety as a coexisting with asc but it wasn't a big issue...now 2 years at this school she's crippled by social anxiety and now has separation disorder which has manifestated only since attending Ace she was fine at wilcombe school in Tiverton ,she had no separation anxiety went on all residentials ,London, glamping sports trips with no worries ,she hasn't received a education at Ace and we are now paying for tutors to help her catch up , the school has put her back months maybe years , she would of been less vulnerable in a mainstream school,Ace Tiverton isn't the correct placement if your child is vulnerable, quiet or what's to learn , the children who attend are violent mostly excluded from mainstream High schools ,children are noisy,it's not a calm place to learn , it's run like a buissness , staff are not trained, and management don't attempt to know or care about the children it's a power trip for them . Your child is just a walking pound sign , they do nothing in the way of outsourcing or assessing your child. We are lucky to have found amazing people that are now working with our child to bring her back emotionally and educationally , but to conclude think carefully about this provision it's not for the students who need quiet to work or not for the faint hearted.
