Rubbish school

rubbish school, all they care about is the uniform and money, they dont let you get away with not giving money on non uniform day and force you to pay, they concentrate on hair, makeup and uniform instead of learning, half of the teachers cant even teach anyway.

Lost touch with reality

Absolutely appalling… school hopes to continue with its past outstanding rating but fails to live up to it… staff who were respected are now leaving.
Communication and administration is appalling… don’t believe me? Please go online and check how out of date their policies are.
Staff failed to recognise my child’s ADHD and told me it was an attitude issue!

horrible teachers

teachers here at chrisis are absolutely awful it’s one of my last years and they have always been negative towards certain kids that are “naughty” even though they get on there nerves and these students retaiate the teachers cause arguments for example a teacher went up to my mates and called me socially unacceptable for nothing after hearing this i politely asked the teacher why and they basically said it’s lies and they never said it even though they fully did

my next reason is some people are targeted in maths especially the back row including myself always getting ridiculed by the teacher and students after having no stop to this since september the teacher always embarrasses us or picks on us when we can’t do the work because he hasn’t explained it and didn’t teach it properly this makes us as a whole feel discouraged and set up to fail

another one of my points is by yet again another teacher shouting my name i walked away as i don’t like her and alls she wanted to ask was how was my holidays as i walked away to the bathroom as i needed a tissue the teacher and another one followed me and the teacher pulled my hair they had no right in doing this after that happened i had to follow the teacher down the corridor telling me how rude i am and that even though she pulled my hair and i was nearly in tears at this point when she stopped the other teacher started having a go so i said well she had no reason to pull my hair and he went mental at me i was in tears at this point and just wanted to be on my own so i walked away from him aswell i called my older sister and her boyfriend telling them what happened they weren’t happy and called school i was then pulled out n asked about it and they rang my sister telling her i lied about it all which wasn’t the case as i have multiple witnesses furthermore i was pulled out again two hours later and received a detention for walking away and i was forced into having a conversation with the teacher about what happened she later on apologized for it which isn’t enough for the stress and show hurt i felt i then got threatened with exclusion and isolation for “open defiance” i don’t see why i’m being punished for her pulling my hair and me being physically and mentally hurt i got let go finally and haven’t been to school since because i fully can’t be there anymore

it’s bad enough with the overload of work nevermind the teachers causing more havoc and grabbing people for walking away when they aren’t even trained in doing so it’s appalling what myself and other students go through and i’m not happy or ready to go back to school

pathetic school

at school i was proper ill and i was forced to come to school everyday and wasn’t aloud to leave even with permission for the 4 weeks i was i’ll in winter overloading myself with stress and passing whatever i had on to other people making them ill aswell and when i finally had a day off i was better and ready for the next day i believe if i had the day off straight away it would’ve been manageable and today i asked to go home my mum gave me permission and i wasn’t aloud the head teacher made me stay even though some teachers where on strike so i had subs so i wasn’t missing much but my head made me go to lessons and overload myself again it got to the point where i broke down in maths as i couldn’t be there and the teachers did nothing to help me all they did was shout which isn’t fair school needs to consider people who can’t be there due to mental well-being and people that are ill in my case it was both so it was worse this school is rubbish and don’t listen to pupils wants and needs fair enough if your attendance is bad but when people seriously can’t be there they should be able to go home or into a classroom by themselves it’s pathetic

Not a flagship school

used to highly rate this school. teachers think they are something else.
talk about insensitive … Current head of year 11 asked my daughter to ring her mum or dad. Her dad is not even listed in carets details you need to fill in since she joined in year 7 as he died.
Then mains she had 240 students to look after … she is paid to be a head of year.
Absolutely disgusting.

fair good school

Contrary to most reviews, chrises is a pretty good school. Majority of teachers are fun to learn with and useful, there’s maybe an odd one who quite obviously favouritises, but what can you do. Most students in each year group are well behaved and polite to staff and prefects on duty, but there’s always one who has to try and push their luck, but we’re teenagers so it’s mainly just your average school stuff to be honest. I’ve learnt a lot in my time at chrises, I think that issues that are serious are dealt with appropriately and every claim from an upset student is taken seriously. heads of year are mostly great and supportive of you, and again deal with any issues quickly and quietly. I think that the hot food is pretty average and maybe a little expensive, but there’s always cheaper cold options and also snacks for anyone who doesn’t fancy a hot meal. I know skirt length and how tight trousers are is an issue, and the pupils do get mad when they are told to sort them out. However, I think that it’s a good school with mostly good people and a decent atmosphere (it’s school- we’re teenagers- most people aren’t going to enjoy it) but yeah would recommend.

Needs Improvement.

School needs major improvement fast. Lacking in many areas.

Staff are cocky and wouldn't dare to speak like that to a member of society outside of the school. Young or not, mutual respect is needed for the best performance in class.

Food is average, prices are quite steep and you may be stood in line till the end of lunch/break till they is nothing left to eat.

Teaching is average, not much engagement or exciting teaching styles to get the class interested.

Most students are pleasant and well mannered but a few are tools. School does nothing to act upon this unless it affects the image of the school.

Buses are a nightmare, people sat on the floor and things being thrown on the buses. School will nag about attendance even if its out of your hands.

Religious schools shouldn't exist. Won't forget the R.E teacher in year 7 that told us dinosaurs aren't real and neither is evolution. It's only point is to indoctrinate kids into the religion and if they had it their way they'd probably have no science department.

3/10 just a bunch of religious tossers trying to set a false image 🤷‍♂️

shocking teacher

i had a crossover with one of the teachers (head of geography) a few years ago in year 7, constantly getting picked on and he accused me of throwing my clue card at him, which i didn’t and i never really saw him after that until my current year where again he’s constantly causing arguments and treating me differently from everyone else which is devastating for me as i’ve never really done anything to him. this year he’s been nothing but nasty making silly arguments, picking on me and continuously targeting me for no reason in and out of lesson. for example in my current year during form i rubbed my name out on my clue card for someone to borrow it and he figured it out and i was sent to my head of year; but when it was someone else they got away with it scott free which is incredibly unfair, another example is when me and my best mate got separated at school and he was stood there making jokes of it telling me to go in his room so i’m not late for geography (as i’m on report) etc and he knew he was making me upset and i showed up to his lesson and did no work as i didn’t understand it and he just kept shouting at me and kept me after school blocking the door and i was honestly petrified something would’ve happened but when another girl did what i did he was laughing along and he escorts me everywhere and compares me to everyone else for no reason and i just find this really hard as i’m on report so i’m targeted more than other students, having to deal with this teacher always on my back and comparing me to other pupils when it’s seriously not needed. i have spoke to people inside and out of school and they have all said he’s had it in for me and that he’s in the wrong for all he’s caused. it’s gotten to the point where i’m crying myself to sleep at night and being scared to walk into school where your supposed to feel safe however i do not feel safe one bit at st christopher’s if you want your child to have support and a happy school life with no problems and no suicidal thoughts if recommended you send them to a better school than this as all st christopher’s has done for me is to make me want to kill myself and i don’t want people to feel the way i do

Bullying

I have experienced lots of bullying throughout high school. The worst thing is, the teachers don't do anything about it. They say that they will give the person/people a warning, which they never do. Don't recommend going to this school.

Personally I didn’t like it

I never felt like I fit in at this school, especially as a gay person I experienced lots of bullying I did report it to the school however not much was done other than a warning to the people who were doing it. Teachers don’t seem interested in students mental health and aren’t very supportive when it comes to people who struggle to manage the stress of school and often dismiss it.

teachers

the tear hers are completely pointless and they clearly show favourites and only like people who are either clever or attractive and you can tell weather they like you or not which is so bad and for me it makes me not want to come in anymore.

in y9 there was an incident in my whole friendship group with one of the girls and another ones ex and the rest of us was sticking up for ourselves because of how minipulative she is and how much abuse she put me and another girl through. we brought this situation into school so the teachers can help us sort it and our head of year started screaming at us for it all when we where the victims, she claimed i had wrote something on the table and that we was bullying the girl who caused it all when that’s all false and didn’t happen, she targeted me and another girl in the group because she likes everyone else and it was clear because of the way she treats us when we are together and apart, she threatened us with report and that she would tare our group apart and i will have no contact with my bestfriend which is heartbreaking and uncalled for at the end of this i cried myself to sleep every night till summer and i would cry on the way to school because i was scared to come to school and still continue to be that way

horrific teachers

When i was in year 9, i went through a horrible situation with my ex and at the time a good friend. Me and my friend group took it into school because it was so depressing and i couldn’t take anymore. My head of year at the time took on this and completely made my life worse, for some reason she decided to be so biased as scream at me and my friends for being victims. For a good two weeks after that i spend every night crying my self to sleep about going into school the next day. I trusted that they would help me when all they did was help the person that caused all of it and in the end i also got accused of having anger issues.

aweful school, DONT reccomend

chrisis is an absolutely aweful school the teachers do not care one bit about your education and they set to much of a high standard, when i was in y7 for math we had a new teacher every day which is ridiculous as they was having interviews for the job and they never taught us a thing, when it came round to y7 exams most our class failed only 2 people mustered a pass and our teacher that day went round our class embarrassing us and everything saying “you failed 10%” and then “you passed 50%, all of you lot should be at his level” which completely destroyed us as a class.

another thing wrong is the bullying, racism and homophobia it never gets sorted in one my previous years i came to school in tears everyday as i was getting bullied by a group of boys i had food thrown at me, sauce tipped down my head i was being called names, getting chased etc honestly i was traumatised and none of the teachers sorted anything when they watched it, heard me complain about it to them nothing was done about it, they where the people that are supposed to protect us and our safeguarding yet they didn’t do anything but leave me in tears on the yard and walking to school and back to my house
in year9 one of the teachers who is senior assistant head asked me where my parents are from as i am mixed race, absolutely disgusting that they had even asked me that and when i told a teacher what they said they laughed at it like it’s just plain rude and disrespectful, finally the homophobia is disgusting and people are attacked everyday because of it and i feel so sorry for them it’s disgusting what they go through.

i’m now in one of my final years at chrisis i’ve been getting bullied for a few months again by y11s i have told teachers about it and nothing is prosecuted don’t send your child here if you want them to have a good well-being because it won’t happen.

the food is crazy expensive and disgusting to, we complain about prices and they just get put up each time and it’s getting ridiculous, they don’t even have enough to feed us all it’s pathetic

my last topic is the uniform they are crazy expensive for a skirt that isn’t good quality wise and i feel as if all the rules are more aimed at girls and we feel sexualised for having it over our knee, and they never fit right there either to big waist size or to small length wise and they just need the correct sizes and they complain about everything to do with uniform from socks to earrings there’s never any individuality even on non uniform days, i can say more but it’ll end up being a full book but please don’t send your kids here unless you want to put them in hell

Full of bullies

I went to St Christopher’s and left in year 8 because of bullying. Fights broke out regularly and nothing was ever sorted. I always remember this one person with autism who got bullied regularly, students would purposely pick on him to get a reaction. After year 8 I went across to Accrington academy and fitted in much better there. Although I did not achieve the grades that I would achieved at St. Christopher’s, my mental well-being was most important, if I had stayed there it would have being in tatters. I still have achieved a bachelors and will complete a Msc, so it did not really matter about grades. Your child won’t achieve exceptionally high if they are constantly full of worry. Always protect your children’s well-being, as this school definitely won’t.

My school

My school was said to be a very proper and intelligent school however I feel that within my 2 years of being there it has dropped immensely, both in education and behaviour. This is mostly the teachers faults (in my opinion) since they focus their attention on the things that aren't incredibly important when teaching, for example people in my class got in trouble because they went to a music lesson during class when they payed for it but the teacher thought that they shouldn't be going even though they "encourage extra curricular activities". There has been many fights and dangerous activitys that were either ignored or blamed on the wrong person by the teachers even if they were there to witness the event. I have to admit that for some parts of school life it can be fun but that moment is very rare and always bitter sweet as it's always before a test or something like that.

Horrendous

In year 6 first applying to this school, hearing its reputation, I was incredibly excited. I however was disappointed from my first day onward. I will list my issues in paragraphs below.

Obviously reading the other reviews, you can see violence and bullying are large issues here. Being a student here I can confirm so. Fights happen almost every day. Majority of bullying happens in year 7 building a sour image of high school. Zero effort is made to stop this by members of staff, who are mostly bullies themselves, having large egos and are power hungry with their positions. I also agree there is a issue with lgbtq. Most students at this (CHRISTIAN) school are bigots who cannot have the decency to simply respect people. Although you can't blame them since the topic of sexuality and gender is hardly explored in this school.

My next issue is the teachers. For what I feel was once an academically good school in my first years; has now defiantly gone down hill in recent years. Most reliable teachers are packing their bags and moving to a better school, leaving students stuck with no mature adult to go to. From what I've seen most teachers are biased and disrespectful. Seemly only interested in attractive/smart students. Somehow they still mange to talk down other schools in the area.

Further more, the school has an obsessive nature of "looking smart". With laughable rules like controlling the length of hair and ear piercings. The uniform feels targeted towards female students, and even having a skirt an inch above your knee, will have staff staring like your a harlot that just broke in. There attitude towards students around these topics is honestly embarrassing.

They're are so many more issues I would like to bring up but I don't want my review like a book. This school should not be your first pick, the staff are so horrendous, they don't even feel human to students. The rules are just too strict in this day and age, and religious schools just shouldn't be a thing. I hope this was helpful.

Horrid School

I've only ever got problems from this school, its absolutely horrid. I have mountains of complaints.

The environment feels crowded and strict, the students have awful manners, pushing and shoving. The staff are horrendous, biased and overly strict. And only support and help the students who are clever or attractive.

The education is average, and feels like being taught from a machine.

There's major issues of homophobia. This is not s comfortable and safe environment to be in, and reporting these problems does absolutely nothing.

The uniform is low quality and expensive, with silly standards. And the teachers are not reasonable at all, only to enforce the strict rules with no empathy for situations students may be in. Female students are targeted and sexulised for having a skirt above the knees by a few centimetres, buy its impossible to get an actual fitting one with the poor quality.

They attempt to present as a community but in reality they is none, consider another school, don't leave year 11 bitter and sour like I did. High school should be fun and have including education. Definitely needs improving.

Not long ago, they was a scandal over the sexism that
is apprent, all together completely banning simply earrings for most years just because boys chose to have them in. In a desperate attempt to escape the complaints they introduced trousers for girls which at least is something new.

They attempt to present as a community but in reality they is none, consider another school, don't leave year 11 bitter and sour like I did. High school should be fun and have including education. Definitely needs improving.

Great school

I am a pupil here and overall it's a very good school. The teachers are great and they care about your education (it's also good that you can have a laugh with the majority of teachers and they won't tell you off which makes you get along with them more, they try very hard to get the very best grades that you can. There is a lot of activities and sports you can participate in. The only negatives I could give is some of the curriculum is boring and out of date but you can only blame the government for that, they also care too much about uniform and how you look. Even on non uniform days they will pick you out for not looking right.

If you want to have a great childhood and get the best grades you can I would highly recommend this school.

horrific school, DONT RECOMMEND

The school cares way more about the way it’s students look than their education. first of all the uniform, it’s just so expensive and bad quality and with the strict rules i find myself buying more than one set a year. To say it’s a free country they are trying to make everyone look that same; no earrings, no high socks, no short hair-cuts. Now onto the teachers, don’t get me wrong some of them are amazing but there is some are god awful. One even started name calling me and my friends (former students) for a incident that wasn’t even our fault, it also took them months to sort it out and even a year down the line them teachers were giving us dirty looks but when our parents had enough of us coming home crying about the place they phoned up then after that then teachers were so nice to us.

Secondly about bullies, of course there is going to be bullies in every school but it took ages for this school to sort it out. With more incidents further on. honestly i can’t stress enough how low this school made me feel please please don’t send your kids here unless you want them to go threw legit hell there is so much more i wanna say but can’t for legal reasons.

my opinion

this school isn’t good it enforces strict unreasonable rules, it forces their beliefs upon its students and it is wayyy to expensive,

i am a former student and i’m here to make sure everyone knows the truth of this school,
i attended this school in 2016 and it started of terrible, the amount of bullying that is targeted to year 7’s is ridiculous, and the teachers just don’t seem to care!

the next thing is lunch time and the food, lunch is at 1:30pm which is late but not the end of the world, but the prices of the food is ridiculous, you are paying large amounts of money for plain and disgusting food, as clearly not enough people are complaining about the price of food they just keep going up and up.

teachers are meant to teach you and give you the best education to make the most out of your life while supporting you, not name call and bully us, half of the teachers cannot teach and leave us feeling like we are wasting our time, they set the standards very high and mock you if you fail, they do not care if you understand it or not they only care about getting good test results so they can show off that they are the best teacher, leaving the students feeling stressed and depressed, they compare students to others which destroys their self esteem, it’s so sad that this is happening as this isn’t what you come to school for.

the uniform is very expensive and there isn’t really any way around it, it constantly needs replacing, £50 for one skirt is absolutely ridiculous, some families cannot afford that and it makes them stress as they don’t know where they will get the money from.

the amount of expenses for things in school can also put pressure and stress on families who cannot afford to, i think this is a big issue that needs sorting immediately.

i hope you found this helpful :)

the truth

absolutely awful school, they care more than how you look than your mental well-being. they preach about bullying yet they don’t care whatsoever about it they don’t even try put a stop to it most the teachers are billy’s themselves and target young girls because they are to ‘distracting’ but surely an 11-16 year old can’t be a distraction to a 40-60 year old
in pe we can’t do rugby or football because it’s a ‘boys’ sport which is extremely sexist
the school is homophobic and racist and needs closing down
they can’t run a school properly
the food is way overpriced for a slice of bread and ham that tastes like cardboard.
the teachers are rubbish and can’t even teach. some try act like your best friend and forget to teach or try which is annoying. most teachers are so unprofessional when it comes to siblings for not being like the other or target you for being related to you and even complain about them to you which is embarrassing and degrading it’s literally uncalled for. the teachers try get themselves involved with the drama and turn it on to the people who are innocent which is so unfair and torture. this school may be good somehow academicaly but on the inside it’s living torture.

Absolutely Terrible

I am a current student at this school, finalising my last year. I am excited to leave this awful school behind. There is so many issues. Do not send your child here. Go next door to Accrington Academy instead.

The school uniform and food are very expensive and low quality. The rules are overly strict. Violence and bullying is a common occurrence. Homophobia and transphobia is a major issue. Some members of staff are bullies themselves. Please do not send your child to this school, this is not an accepting, friendly environment.

Bullying, Homophobic, Overly Strict, Awful.

I was a former student at this school, probably the worst years of my life, the rules are ridiculous and strict. Lots of bullying and homophobia. Not a good environment for children. Students and teachers just plain rude and unfair. Met a few good people. Some members of staff are just plain out creepy. Had a teacher who would make many transphobic comments in class. Its main focus is looking like a good school, when it’s really not.

Do not send your child to this school. I came home everyday feeling down and depressed. Many cases of being treat poorly by members of staff, who are immature.

Good academically, not great in other areas

While I had a great time at this school, I feel as if that wasn't due to the school itself. The uniform rules of the school are far too strict, to an extent that I know of a person who lost all of his break and lunches due to having his hair too short (a first time "offender" as well) whereas I know of others that have inflicted violence or homophobia on others but only had 1 day of isolation as punishment. I feel as if the traditional values of the school will hold it back in this respect.

However, I must say that the quality of teaching has always been high. At least in my experience. The core subject's (maths, English and science) departments are of a good quality, and so are the teachers.

The other subject departments are also pretty good. However, I do not believe that certain subjects like music, art or RE should be mandatory, or at least not in the way they are. Some students even missed out on PSHE in year 9 (a very important year for development) and in turn having no form of sex education until year 10 at which I would argue is too late.

While I believe the school has issues as a whole, academically they produce good results and a lot of the issues they have will be found in every other school. So while not a great school, I would say it's one of the better options in the area.

Awful school

Absolutely awful school they care more about how you look than your education if you are not academically clever then they will not care. They have the most ridiculous rules. They do absolutely nothing about bullying. Most of the teachers are bully’s themselves. If you are clever you will get away with anything in that school if you are not you will be punished for absolutely everything. Food is awful so so expensive aswell
