Sahil in year 9 has really upset me and has been swearing at me in school which makes me feel uncomfortable and I do not feel like coming school and if there is no action taken I will fell upset and not come school because of him
I attended Abbey Grange from 2012-2019 and I can only say I hope it has changed for the better. Although the standard of teaching was very high, the SLT's obsession with school performance and league table ranking was detremental to students' mental health, and the culture of the school as a whole. This pressure trickled down to teaching staff and then to students. I witnessed supportive teachers become borderline abusive in their behaviour. A particular member of staff was allowed to verbally berate sixth form students in assemblies for the behaviour of a minority, and send regular messages to students which included explicit or implicit threats, a patronising and negative tone, and abusive name calling, in one instance calling the cohort 'idiots' and 'filthy' for minor behavioural infractions. I witnessed several of my friends develop severe mental health issues in part due to the extreme academic pressure put on us by the academy. We felt like we could not speak up, and only realise these things with hindsight, years later. The way some members of staff treated students here (children) was abusive at best. The saving grace of my own education were a select few teachers who had to pick up the pieces from the school's lacking mental health support system.
teachers don't care about mental health and all they care about is students attendance and grades it's pathetic i've never had gone if i knew it was such a sh*t hole
Some teachers are ignorant to students mental health and do nothing to make lessons easier for them.
The amount of sexism, ableism, racism and homophobia that some students get away with is ridiculous.
They force religion and the Christian Ethos onto you during assemblies and in general.
Many bullies get away with anything they want and don't get in any trouble.
The only good thing might be the trips they organise but some of them still have to have a Christian or religious theme to the
Homophobia and sexism is taken as a joke by the teachers. If you are being bullied the teachers 'have a talk' with the person bullying you and if they continue bullying you then it's your problem to solve. Most people I know are scared to ask for help if they don't feel well since some of the teachers are sarcastic and rude.
The only good thing are the trips the school organise but the Christian Ethos is still forced onto you even if you ask not to participate since they aren't your beliefs.
Now the students, they are all rude, sexist, homophobic and racist. They think it's okay to make fun of people's dead family members but when confronted they say 'it was just banter, learn to take a joke'.
Wow! As a wheelchair user looking at the school for my daughter to start high school in September 2023. I must say this was one of the best experiences of an open evening. With such pleasant staff and students. Easy to get around and our guide who was top pupil (R) was outstanding he showed us everywhere my daughter wanted to look at then took us around the rest of the classes afterwards. He sat with us whilst my children tasted the foods, I must say this was delicious! We didn’t feel rushed or overwhelmed and I believe this was all down to the guide that we had and Abbey Grange Academy must be very proud of all the students they were all amazing. Thank you Mum of 2.
Applied for two children at this school and in both occasions they refused and referred it to SIF form that they have not received which we uploaded with online system and delivered to reception. They also have an artificial panel and clerks seated in Huddersfield that pretended to be intelligent and helping families. I found it in my situation I have been discriminated and I believe that they are just dishonest and fake reality based their charity which is too far from church and christianity.
I felt extremely uncomfortable during my time at abbey grange, with various teachers ignoring the students who are doing well and harassing the students who aren’t rather than helping them.
Students were pleasent. However the depth of sexism & racism within the teachers union, and especially the management, is incredibly toxic & uncomfortable. The management itself is also a cesspool of chaos & lacking proper leadership. Would highly advise against.
