The school has very inconsistent policies regarding behaviour, with an example of a student having been involved in multiple physical alterations, all of which has seemingly been arranged beforehand, and using racial slurs against ethnic minorities, able to remain in the school, for reasons that when asked about the Leadership team get incredibly defensive about. A different student, who had positive behaviour and achieved high grades was involved in a small push and shove due to an argument was expelled immediately. The headteacher is also a power hungry individual who seemingly enjoys exerting his power over students, ofteb reminding students that this is his school we are in, and any infringement, will be punished. We can see this as Year 7s are often belittled and screamed at by him for having the wrong colour of socks, however and event between him and an adult saw him crumble immediately, take of that what you will.
Really bad for mental health. Say they are good and want to help you but they are so bad. They will help you if you have like basic mental health problems like a little anxiety or friendship issues but if you have serious problems they don’t want to help you because your too much of a problem.
After 7 years at Abbey College, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time. There have been a few slip ups along the way but overall from a students perspective any issues were dealt with and in those cases where there were slip ups, it was always rectified. Staff are very supportive and make sure you reach you're potential by going above and beyond to ensure anything needed is accessible from textbooks to emotional support.
