TERRIBLE AND CRAP SCHOOL.

The teachers here are terrible at doing their jobs. the food is good but that doesnt make up for it. Mr Farren is the only good teacher there. Most of the teachers are strict and dont help or ask about you or your mental health.

some of the pastoral teachers are nice but sometimes dont help at all.

Don’t send your child here

As waltonhigh Brooklands campus was a new school it had high expectations set by everyone who was joining when it opened its doors it seemed new nice and we all thought it would be a great school for kids to go to unfortunately gradually over its short time it’s been opene for it has fallen down hill as one of the worst schools in mk not only do they enforce rules that is only about apperiance to make the school look good at all times especially when they had there school rateing (forgot what it’s called) girls must tie there hair up and if u ever have it down its like u just murdered someone teachers chase students down the hallways even if u didn’t hear them. Not only is this school bad for your mental health it’s not safe students are violent and bullying is awful and never dealt with random people have broke into the school trying to hurt students and have. But yet the school never did anything or even contacted the parents. I was in school and someone broke into my school looking for someone while the teachers knew and so did the kids yet they didn’t tell us to go somewhere and just let us walk around like normal the amount of make teachers who are ped*s is horrendous oh and girls aren’t aloud to wear cycling shorts because what the words they used ‘it’s uncomfortable for the male teacher’ there’s so much more I could say about this school I just simply don’t have the time

Do not send your children here

This school has repeatedly proved itself to be terrible. Unfortunately, this place seems to find itself with the greatest of teachers, however it's poor actions, responses, understanding and more brings the place down.

Part 1: Crimes
This school has had countless poorly-behaved students (which is to be expected, with any school or club containing teens), however I know several people who have been sexually assaulted or harrassed and one raped at this school and do you know what the school did? Nada. They showed nothing but a teensy bit of sympathy.

And when I say "a teensy bit", I have no clue whether they even cared. I had to stay in pastoral for a short period of time a while ago and this was the only time I found out how poor pastoral really was. The team makes fun of and laughs at students who are having outbreaks or in need of help (but behind their back). It is disgusting to see how this team acts.

And for the friend who got raped, they showed no efforts of seperating the two at all or even moving the rapist to the other campus (which they've done for previous misbehaving students) or excluding him from the school entirely. It was even more appauling to see that they left the two students on the same school bus!

Part 2: Responses & Communication
This school is terrible at talking and communicating with parents.
-Do you want to have a meeting with the head? Email him!
-You've emailed him? And he hasn't responded? For months, even? Talk to reception!
-You want to have a meeting with the head but you got no response? Don't talk to reception, email him!
=The cycle continues.

Not only this, but the school also ignores any complaints or constructive criticism. However, if you do get a response, it is usually negative and/or will deny the claims.

Part 3: The Teachers, Tutors, Wasted Lessons and Read To Succeed
This school has 6.5 hours (excluding break times and change-over times) to teach something to students; this equates to roughly 32.5 hours per week (because of the 5 school days that there are) to teach something, anything (and there's a lot). Nearly 3 hours, per week, are wasted in Tutor Time or "Read To Succeed."

The idea of Tutor Time is that you sit in a classroom with people and do school-related activities or talk to your Tutor about anything you need, right? Well, not neccessarily. That's wrong, in this school at least. My tutor, personally, (whom I will keep anonymous) is very strict and if you ask them a question, they typically ignore you and try to keep you silent and reading.

This is another thing. Why have a time for my tutor to answer my questions, if they will just keep me silent and ignore it? It's frustrating. It's 3 hours a week that you are expecting teenagers (of this generation, especially) to read books in complete silence. It is a very poor idea of them and could be spent doing much more efficient stuff.

One could also argue that P.S.H.E. (previously called Man In Society) and P.E. are wastes of time too. P.S.H.E. goes through a constant rotation every half term and can be about our mental health, sex education, an extra P.E. lesson or something else. Students are given P.S.H.E. and P.E. individually once a week. That is an extra 2 hours per week wasted (in some points of view).

P.E. obviously can have its health benefits for those students who do not exercise or work out. However, the only time I found P.S.H.E. important are the lessons about mental health - but these may as well just not happen, as students will only get them for 1 of every 6 half terms of the year and only 1 hour every week.

Instead, you could maybe fit lessons like P.S.H.E.'s mental health into the tutor time which is wasted on "reading".

Part 4: The Lying To Ofsted
This one may be one of the more serious issues (leaving the rape and sexual harrassment/assault problems on top) as it is not okay. In the school year of 2021/22, (at the Brooklands campus) there was a huge uproar in riots and stampedes in the corridors, at break, lunch and lesson switch-over. These still happen, however they are less common when compared to those of 2021/22.

Now, how did the school manage these? I mean, surely, it must be a very hard situation to deal with.
Well, some teachers would stand aside, whilst others would barge into the centre of them and push (not physically) students to one side or another, to try and calm it down and divide traffic. I honestly don't believe that teachers had agreed to do this at first, and I firmly believe that this was just a brave act on impulse that some teachers took part in.
However, perhaps, I can accept (and, perhaps, it did happen) that after the first time (or maybe it was always like this), teachers decided to start doing this.

However, when Ofsted arrived, how did teachers deal with this?
Well, there were actually less stampedes and riots, with more teachers, than usual, standing in the corridors and operating the traffic; pointing students in the right direction to their lessons, sending them back down stairs if they went up the wrong ones, etc. But when there was a stampede, they got everyone to sit down in a corridor and to hand over their Student I.D. Cards. This would then lead to all of the students coming to get their cards from detention at the end of the day and receiving a negative point. - That's it. An around-one-hour detention and a measly negative.
These stampedes and riots were horrors. Students would generally fall or get pushed into one place in corridors and sometimes, get trampled on. It was dangerous and this is how the school dealt with it? However, it was better than usual, but only because of the appearance of Ofsted.

After Ofsted left, they gave a brilliant review on the school (after what they had seen) and the school went back to normal; stampedes and riots were dealt with the same way as before Ofsted showed up, teachers would be less promiment in the hallways and they would no longer be doing their jobs and sucking up as well.

Part 5: The Cuisine
I'm sure the cooks are decent and good people, in general. However, this school is disgusting with how they present themselves generally.

The only bad thing I've noticed physically about the food is the fact that the dough they use for pizza is still very clearly undercooked. However, I was one of the people who made it to Summer School, just to understand what the school would be like before I joined!

And it was brilliant! Obviously, the lessons weren't proper lessons and students' behaviours are not the school's fault. However, the cuisine that I was given was free (I assume, pre-paid by my parents for me to be able to go to Summer School) and it was warm - unlike most the food we get now! Plus, I was given free refills and drinks whenever I felt like it. However, now, I've realised things can be a bit pricey. The only free things there are the porridge (because most people probably don't like it - this is just an opinion-based thing) and the water, which most would agree tastes disgusting.

It is so disappointing to know that the school would treat me so well in Summer School, just to give me a good impression and make it look good, just for me to find out how poor it truly is in a few months.

Now, before I get to the conclusion, why should you trust me? This is a student's opinion (and not even a former one, at that)! Well, I can't offer any proof of this but I can lend you my trusted word. I am not an untrustworthy or misbehaving student. The maximum amount of negative points I've gotten in a school year must've been like 10 (at a stretch) - though I wouldn't know, as I don't have my Classcharts login.

Much like any school, who do most the negative points go to? The one student who picks on everyone and never focuses when they say "bless you" very quietly after someone sneezes.

In conclusion, this school needs serious work and honestly, should just act like Ofsted are always there. The pastoral team also need to change their efforts and our mental health should not only be cared for when they want to care or for 8 days per year. This school needs to get its priorities and values straight and listen to parents when they need it!

I hope you take this review well and understand and I hope this school can change its ways.

Miserable old receptionist

Super disappointing and rude receptionist, no helpful at at all.

Old lady with short hair, couldn’t be asked to pick up the phone, neither to respond to several emails.

Once in the school was rude to me in front of my children , raising her voice asking me, “what you dont understand, you can not see a teacher, they are about to go on holidays?”

What does this means?, I’m not allowed to talk to a teacher?, that no one cares?, that I have to wait until September for the same miserable attitude?

You are in the education industry, this is what you teach?

The history teacher was passing by (miss T smith ), she was super helpful and offer her time to explain the grades and other questions that took her a couple of minutes.

This review is based on the miserable attitude and customer service received by receptionist who never answered the phone neither reply emails, then rude on your face in front of your children.

Is not the first time and won’t be the last time sadly.

Is this the face and attitude you want to show to the parents?, promote her to a cleaner, she would be lot happier!!

poor school

This school is not a good school my son goes here to the brooklands campus and he said it is very poor. The staff is very very rude and they learning system is even worse. They force young children to behave when inspectors come and inspect the school when in reality it is horrible. The only thing the school cares about is uniform and presentation so the school can look its finest at all times. When you talk to the staff they are disrespectful rude and when students try and defend themselves they get told off for doing nothing. Also when writing emails to unbehave students they love to exaggerate and twist the words and make the students look like the main problem when the teachers start yelling at them first. This school is disgusting and would definitely not recommend

HORRIBLE!!!!!!
My child goes to this school and every week he comes home with bruises all over his body claiming that there are from the fight that happens. Also, my child has a history teacher named Mr brown (he is white and Irish so I don't know why he would be named that), that gives him negatives as much as it rains in the UK, my child is an angel, and would not be misbehaving in a lesson, all his negatives are from Mr brown, and I have also heard from other students and parents that since Mr brown entered the school, grades started to increase dramatically.
I would give this 0 stars if it was possible.

DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDERN HERE

Do not send your children to this school!
My child has been bullied multiple times and this school has done nothing to stop this.

The most teachers don't give children an opportunity to explain themselves if they unfairly get into trouble and will instead give the child a negative straight away.

The only good thing about this school is the food for school dinners.

Warning

I currently go to this school and this is my honest opinion I go to the brooklands campus and personally I only go here because I’ve already picked my gcse and trust me don’t go to this school. At my school many people have broke in and threatened students with a knife but as this has occurred many times the school never said anything to our parents and never got us to go to a safe place while people are in our school as threat the students also handles bullying awfully and barley gets the bullies to apologies boys at the school have sexually assaulted some of my friends but still nothing happened the teachers don’t care about the pupils but only themselves and getting money and about money the school food is so expensive and unhealthy and police is at our school a lot and most student who go to our schools have not got into great universities and teachers only care about uniform and not our mental health or how we are being treated and I have had loads of people tell me that male teachers have looked up their skirt

Zero tolerance no more

When Walton high school brooklands opened its new doors it was absolutely brilliant. Welcoming any abilities which it thrived on. Zero tolerance and areas of specialization in autism or senco students needing extra support was quite good standards. However as staff members became absent or not supported during pupils lack of respect, and unfortunately leaving the school altogether this is when unresponsive unresolved issues became absent. Pupils being bullied, letting pupils have phones during lessons and certain pupils using these as weapons! Bullying by filming extreme violence. What motivates these " children" to go at such lengths as to use violence on others.. where is the support and structure gone. Staff members not sure how to connect with minors destrupting lessons so others wanting to learn are left unfairly.
I'm a parent and I would never expect lack of respect to venture from my children's lips let alone condole any misbehaving and unkindness to others. Parents and carers of these children/ students need notification immediately. Forms of which are given to fill after consultation meetings are unsatisfactory if the process is not fully delt with. " Is your child safe" is laughable. " Do we deal with bullying".. The head of both schools walnut tree and brooklands need to fully investigate issues without any escalating!. Zero tolerance bring it back.. the first port of call PUT MOBILE PHONES AWAY.. ie lockers at the beginning of the day.! It's a crying shame what is happening to what was a good school. Ground rules, respect for staff and pupils.
I was appalled to hear of a pupil whilst being strangled by one student and filmed on a mobile phone by another... Where were the teachers! Why are these very disturbing children doing such motivated cruel acts. And COVID has nothing to do with this!! There's unruly persons and there's almost psychopathic behaviour. I cannot and will not believe these matters at hand are not worthy to be delt with! Assault is a crime! Honestly where are we letting this go??
Murder.. will that survice for full investigation!!

First year I thought it was good and then all of these rules started coming in for example u are not allowed ur hair down random but ok and then only one peircing per ear because of some students not being able to afford it and this one really does surprise me as let’s be honest a pearcing is like a fiver depending where u go and the fact that they FORCE you to take them out even when not healed is purely disgraceful not to mention the teachers a good lot of them are very good at there jobs but most of my maths teachers have barley even taught me division let alone the real things I’ll need for my GCSEs plus there is obvious bullying that some teachers themselves are doing to other teachers and students and we are not allowed to wear cycling shorts as it is how did they word it oh yes uncomfortable for the male pe .teachers the amount of panic attacks this school has given me isn’t right so if u have a child who u truly care abouts safety DO NOT send them here . RUBBISH!!!!

Absolutely rubbish. You're better off going to a different school especially a different sixth-form. Children at this school are absolutely horrible, and this school does not have many Stem students going to top universities, as this sixthform/school is more for humanities. You'll maybe have 1 or 2 humanities students going off to York or Warwick which is no way comparable to other school such as Denbigh and Shenley who have students going of to Oxford, UCL or imperial to study STEM. Don't bother sending your child here if they are more into STEM based subjects for sixth-form.

This school also handles bullying poorly, loads of racist teachers and also the food is EXPENSIVE! This school is also full of students who show anti-social behaviour especially after school hours. I'm glad I made my child leave and go to a different school.

MASSIVE HEALTH AND SAFETY RISK:
Have we also forgotten about that incident of a man running through the school with a massive spade threatening to attack CHILDREN!

Missing the mark

Common sense and decency are not practiced nor preached. Instead, energy seems to go into enforcing rules which seem counterproductive at best. I hope that these children grow into strong, resilient adults but this environment is dangerous. By not rectifying these redundant policies, it's only going to get worse and it's the youngsters who are suffering.
